Dr. Patrick Hook
Dr. Patrick Hook spent many years working as an engineer in motor racing before deciding to revisit academia. He studied Computer Science at the University of Exeter, where in 1998, he was awarded a 1st Class Honours Degree and a Dean's Commendation.
After this Patrick went on to read for a Ph.D. in Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Ken Evans, a world expert in auxetic materials. This research was sponsored by Dow Corning Ltd. - a successful association that continues to this day. His thesis was reviewed and passed in 2003, whereupon he formed Auxetix Ltd. to commercialise the highly novel aspects of his work. Patrick then attended the 'New Ventures Development' module of the University of Exeter's MBA course under the tutelage of Prof. Gordon Murray, a world expert in hi-tech venture capital.
Patrick was made an Honorary University Fellow of the University of Exeter in December 2003.
